Poster Analysis

First i will begin with analysing Chicago film poster. Chicago is a musical about two female killers wanting to be stars in Broadway, they then use a top lawyer to get them off innocent.

there is very limited colour in this poster, it features the main protagonists all in the centre, showing the audience that these will be the main people. the only colour in the poster is dark red and orange, red being a symbolic colour of danger, lust and anger, giving these ideas and representations to the audience. the characters are entirely in black and white except the girls lips, drawing attention to them. This could suggest they have something to say and indicates lust.

the girls are faced with their backs turned to the audience yet facing away from the centre man, this shows they are sly and have something to hide. This is re-established with the subtle guns in both of their hands and the knowing smile they have on their face. This alone gives an idea to the audience of what the film is about. Also the girls are dressed in glamorous flapper girl costumes and the man in a suit, this establishes the era in which the film is set and reinforces the gun idea as there were many gangsters in Chicago around the 20s and 30s. They are placed infront of a large C which links with the larger C in the title of the film just below. This re-establishes the title of the film. Underneath the actors it says "If you cant be famous, be infamous", this again gives the audience an idea of the genre of the film and what it will be about. The actors names are put above each of the actors at the top of the poster, being at the top this is one of the first things that the audience looks at and because they are well known actors it will attract more of an audience as they expect the film to be of good quality.

I will now analyse the poster for the film The Virgin Suicides:
The poster is completely taken over by an extreme close up of the side of a young girls face directly looking at the audience. Instantly this engages the audience with this character and they immediately know that this is the main protagonist. The young girl is smiling which seems to suggest a happy film.
The eye contact with the audience connects them and with the soft warm tones around the girls face girls a pleasant feeling about the girl and the audience responds positively to her. However this is juxtaposed with the title of the film "The Virgin Suicides" which is a harsh title with negative connotations because of the word "suicide". This extreme contrast intrests the audience making them want to know more about the film and what happens within the film.
This is reinforced with the font of the main masthead and subheadings are in almost girly, pleeasant fonts, possibly carrying connotations of virgins.

Poster research - i have researched different types of posters and i am considering creating a pull out from a film magazine, i have studied different posters from this genre and have taken note of the typical conventions that can be found within this genre. i have also studied posters that can be advertised on small boards such as in cinemas or shops.

Eventually i decided to create a poster for small advertising boards, i chose this type because i believe this is a more effective way to advertise a film with the advertisement being in cinemas and other places, it will attract a broader audience rather than just being in a film magazine.

These are the dimentions i have decided on when making my film poster and i will have to take these into consideration when creating.

Here are some still shots i took from my film and used for my poster and magazine front cover. The shots are before and after manipulation.

Shooting schedule

I aim to shoot my video on the 12th of february, this is when i will shoot the first more basic partof my video where jemilla will be "taking" the tablets and also drowning in the bath.
The following saturday night i will film at The welly club for the most part of my video.
Cast list Release forms

My main protagonist will be played by Jemilla Pir. I feel confident Jemilla will play the character of a young girl in an abusive relationship who turnsto drugs and whos life eventually spirals out of control. I feel Jemill will play this part well as she is confident and adaptable

There will be many other characters within my trailer such as Jemillas abusive boyfriend played by Sam Holah. many ohers will be featured in the film as extras as part of the trailer will be shot within a night club.
Location list

This will be a list of the locations i will be filming in and a brief summary of what will be filmed there. I don't want any obvious props in and around the area as i want a feeling of verisimilitude that the audience can relate to, giving a sense of realism.

Night club - majority of the trailer will be shot here as there is no way i could create a convincing night club enviroment and i wanted realism within my trailer. Many extras will be shot here appearing to take drugs and drinking large quantities of alcohol.

A house - the fight scene between Jemilla and her boyfriend will take place here as well assome extra scenes of Jemilla being distressed

A bathroom - a scene of jemilla screaming under water in a bath will be shot here.
Health and safety considerations

Some of the health and safety consideration i will have to take in to are account are firstly the location of my filming, with it being in a club there are many safety considerations such as drink being spiked, people falling over or being injured by other drunks and their heels.
Another location safety risk is that of Jemilla in the bath, because of the number of shots i had to take of her screaming under the water there is the risk of her choking and drowning or even secondary drowning. She could also slip and bang her head.

The precautions i will take to avoid such things are to steer clear myself and my cast of any suspicious and unsavoury characters or extremely drunk girls in high heels. Also i am i trained life guard so if Jemilla were to drown i am very confident i could save her.

Prop list

This will be a list of all of the things i will incorporate into my film trailer

Pills - head ache tablets will be used to look like Class A drugs such as ecstacy
Keys - keys wil be used within the night club by the extras so they appear to be snorting powder drugs such as cocaine ad methadrone
Drinks - drinks will be used in the club to show the alcohol abuse
Cigarettes -these will again be used by the extras within the club

Film Trailer Synopsis

My film trailer is in the genre of a romance film. It begins with an opening sequence of a young girl filming a boy around the same age in a large park or garden. The editing will of high contrast and slightly grainy to show it is summer but being filmed with an old camera. The couple are dancing and generally being silly in the park, the openness of the park suggests freedom for the couple, as does the dancing. Regina Spektor - Us will be played throughout this scene. A male narration will explain the situation throughout and the last scene in this part of the trailer will be a close up of the couple expressing their love for each other. the music then fades to silence and the scene fades to a black screen momentarily and then to a rich looking lady smoking a cigarette laughing in a mocking tone. The contrast between the vivid colour and pleasant music of the last scene compared to this silent scene of the mother gives the audience a feeling of uneasiness. The scene then goes on with dialogue between mother and daughter arguing about the girls choice in her boyfriend and then abruptly ends with the mother forbidding the girl to see him anymore. This outlines the main disruption of the film to the audience. The next scene is of the couple, both sobbing with the girl telling the boy she cannot see him any longer, this then cuts to a pan of an expensive looking car and then a shot of a smug looking rich guy leaning on it, the mothers voice narrates this explaining that this is a better choice for her daughter, the audience will see the problem in this and take a dislike to this character.
Here is my final storyboard
